Recommended by Ronnie Baybut:

The above guest house is owned and run by a friend of mine (Ross McKellar) He's a great lad and very accommodating, other Association Members will know him and/or have stayed there.  Mention my name or better still just say Ronnie from Liverpool and he will do his best for you including discounts for groups, off peak, etc It is only a 10 minute walk from Inverness Station and 10 minutes walk to Cameron Barracks. The bus stop to Fort George etc is immediately opposite.

LINKS TO ALLIED REGIMENTS

The Highlanders are allied to a number of overseas regiments, alongside whom our ancestors have fought in past campaigns.  Dates in brackets are dates the affiliation was formally approved by the Sovereign.

Underlined links are those I have found so far. Updated 16th January 2005

48th Highlanders of Canada (1904)
Toronto Scottish Regiment (Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's Own) (1960)
Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (1923)
Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada (1911)

Royal South Australian Regiment 10th/27th Battalion (1952)
Royal Western Australian Regiment 16th Battalion (1936)

Cape Town Highlanders (1932)
7th Battalion (Wellington [City of Wellington's Own] and Hawkes Bay) Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (1950)

4th Battalion (Otago and Southland) Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (1948)

The Regiment is affiliated to the following Army Cadet Force units:

Edinburgh Academy CCF

Robert Gordon's College CCF

1st Battalion The Highlanders ACF   (New link - Iain Woolley)

2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF

Details of TA and Cadet units to which we are linked are here

The Liverpool Scottish (used to be V Coy 2/51 Highland) are here

We also have three associated Australian Cadet Forces:
The Scotch (PGC) College Queensland (1992)
The Scots College, Perth (1998)
The Scotch College, Melbourne (1999)

We are affiliated to three Royal Navy ships, (HMS Inverness, HMS Shetland (believed to have been laid up?) and HMS Sutherland).

Amazingly, the Regiment is linked to a TRIDENT Ballistic Missile Submarine of the Vanguard Class, HM Submarine Victorious. Details are here on the Royal Navy website.  So if you want to mess with The Highlanders, be prepared for incoming nukes from our mates onboard Victorious!

We are also affiliated to 846 Naval Air Squadron who operate Westland Commando helicopters for the Royal Marines
