Dear Supporter of the Liverpool Scottish Museum,

We have posted a new newsletter (No. 7) to the Internet on the Museum's website. I apologise for troubling you with a second newsletter in under six months but the sad news of the impending closure of the Liverpool Scottish Museum from 30 September 2008 needs wide circulation. Further updates will be maintained on the website and further issues of a newsletter.

Newsletter No 7 is to be found through www.liverpoolscottish.org.uk or directly (but with no menu navigation) at www.liverpoolscottish.org.uk/news7.htm
• Closure of the Museum - associated issues
• Discussion of the Future and 'What Can You Do to Help?'
• 90th Anniversary of the 55th (West Lancashire) Division at the Battle of Givenchy - Wreathlaying at Divisional Memorial Saturday 12 April at 1100 hours French time. This Givenchy is a small village SW of Armentières and is a couple of hours or so drive from Calais; it should not be confused with any other Givenchy villages in France and is not associated with Monet, the painter. Apologies for late notice; it was intended to circulate this earlier but we have been pre-occupied in the last few weeks with the issues of closure.
• 90th Anniversary of the Death of Noel Chavasse - Wreathlaying last summer at Brandhoek 4 August 2007
• Outside lectures by the Museum
• Publication of Chavasse: A Family History. 1669-2006. This has been written by family members (including Captain Edgar Chavasse, past chairman of the Liverpool Scottish Officers' Association)
It is likely that we will start dismantling displays in June 2008 and if you were intending to visit you should really do so before then.Behind the scenes preparations for closure will have already begun by that stage. We will attempt to maintain our enquiry service throughout this period and plans are being formulated for the future. However, the last time that we had to move it took three years to re-establish ourselves (in a manner of which we have been very proud). It is impossible to say what form our next incarnation may take; it may be very different to the current model.

The new book by Dennis Reeves, Special Service of a Hazardous Nature: The Story of the Liverpool Scottish Involvement with Special Forces in WW2, has been well-received and sold well so far. Get your copy now! £9.99 plus postage and packing (£12.49 inclusive in the UK)

Stop the Newsletter?
At some time in the past you have probably made an enquiry to the Liverpool Scottish Museum and have been added to our e-mail distribution list. If you wish to be removed, please accept my apologies for having been bothered and REPLY to our original e-mail that you have just received advising you of this newsletter adding the word REMOVE to the subject line. The process is manual (that's me at a keyboard) and may take a short while to complete. The intention is never to do more than two e-mailings a year except in exceptional circumstances (of which this is an example!). It would be helpful to know which list you are on (E.g. LS Website List A) if the e-mail that you receive indicates this.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Riley
