CALL TO ARMS - OFFICER CADET TRAINING AT EATON HALL 1943-1958
Further to my letter to all OE's of 15 November 2005 and subsequent letter of 14 February 2006, to the substantial number who kindly responded, I have great pleasure in writing to tell you that the book is written/compiled and with the printer.
The enclosed flyer is self-explanatory (click here for link) and you are warmly invited to order a copy now.
The original target publication date of 1 May was over-optimistic but my co-author, Brian Stewert (OE), and I feel that the delay provides an opportunity for the book to be an ideal Christmas present to oneself or for a member of the family! Brian and I are particularly pleased and grateful to Ronnie Adam (OE) whose Scottish firm are printing and distributing the book and handling the payment arrangements.
Following the reunion at Eaton on 19 May, so many OE's who attended have asked for a copy of (OE) Bishop John Kirkham's marvellous address in chapel that we have included it as an epilogue in the book. (The chapel collection raised £1217 which was donated to the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) from whom I received a most appreciative letter of thanks.)
Finally, on a personal note, I should mention that I have recently been appointed chairman of the newly-formed British Army Benevolent Fund America and have moved indefinitely to Cambridge, Massachusetts, whilst retaining my house in London. All being well, the next reunion dinner will be held in London in 2008!
