Maj Gen GCM Lamb CMG OBE has been awarded the DSO for his work in Iraq last year.

It was announced that the following officers of the Regiment are to command other units of the Scottish Division:
Maj (for Lt Col) S West - 1 A &SH in Canterbury - Jul 05
Maj (for Lt Col) PK Harkness MBE - 1 RHF - Jun 05
Maj (for Lt Col) HRA Eaton MBE - TBA
It was also announced that Lt Col JMR Hopkinson MBE the son of Major General JCOR Hopkinson CB a former Colonel of the Regiment (QO HLDRS) and former CO 1 QO HLDRS is to assume command of 1 HLDRS from Lt Col Tim Lai in Jan 05.
Lt Col Hopkinson is currently based at Army Personnel centre Glasgow where he is the Military Assistance to the Military Secretary (MS) a post filled until recently by Major General AR Grant Peterkin CB late QO HLDRS who retired from the Army on 6 Jan 04.
Major General SHRH Monro CB is currently on held strength of the Fort George Battalion (! R IRISH) pending his retirement in Feb 04.

Ex 1 QO HLDRS JNCO Joe Bellingham (brother of ex WO2 Johnnie) who transferred to the Small Arms School Corps and got to WO1 has just been commissioned as a Captain in the SASC. Well done Joe!

Major General GCM Lamb CMG OBE late QO HLDRS is heading for Iraq to take command of all the troops there. A newspaper article (Daily Mail) described him as 'a tough, no-nonsense officer' - they got that bit right then!

The 1st Battalion have started moving to their new home in Fallingbostel - the tour is expected to last for 5 years - and having gained some 120 recruits they expect to be fully manned by the end of the year with the newly reformed A Coy who have replaced the Gurkha Company which disbanded in Dec 03.

1 RHF are returning from Cyprus in Aug 05 and moving into the newly refurbished Glencorse Barracks, Penicuik, formerly the Scottish Infantry Division Depot.
The Pre Adv Party of 1 HLDRS have left for Germany, the Advance Party follows this week.

1 BW are apparently NOT now going to Redford Barracks to takeover from 1 HLDRS as we thought. They are off to Warminster (Battlesbury Barracks)) as the Warrior Inf Demo Battalion. Anyone know who is taking over from 1 HLDRS in Edinburgh? Rumour is an English unit....must be putting them in to keep the Scottish Nats and other rebels down....ahem!

The Battalion are just about all back in the UK from Bosnia. They go on leave for a few weeks after the Bosnia Medal parade on Monday 20th October (Dargai Day) at Redford Barracks, Edinburgh. They are then on SPEARHEAD duty ready to go anywhere worldwide within 24 hours.

1 HLDRS were awarded 'Great Scots Unsung Heroes' for their efforts in Bosnia at a ceremony in Glasgow. The Battalion was selected by overwhelming votes of the Great Scottish Public. Well done the Jocks!

Queen's Birthday honours
Congratulations to:
Brigadier (Major General Designate) GCM Lamb OBE was awarded a CMG (nicknamed the Call Me God award as the top one is GCMG - God calls me God!). This is an unusual one as the Cross of St Michael and St George normally goes to the top civil servants and diplomats, although military can be awarded them. I do remember that he was always very diplomatic about the fat lads in the Battalion............ahem!
Lt Col HPA McNair (lovingly nicknamed Abdul by the lads of 1 QO HLDRS) was awarded an OBE. He is a cousin of Lt Col WPC McNair OBE
