City of Edinburgh marks the start of Armed Forces Week with the raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag at City Chambers with representatives of Legion Scotland and our Armed Forces.

Armed Forces Day will be celebrated with a parade along George St in Edinburgh, to St Andrews Square where an address and programme of entertainment will take place along with refreshments available to all veterans taking part.
Timings for the Parade are as followed:

1015 Parade forms up Charlotte Square
1015 Charity stalls open within St Andrew Square
1028 Lord Provost & VIPs take position outside Assembly Rooms
1030 Parade steps off from Charlotte Square

Legion Scotland are delighted to announce a special concert taking place at the Scottish National War Memorial, Edinburgh Castle on Friday 15th August 2025. The concert will be titled Scotland’s Salute to VJ Day Anniversary Concert and will be Scotland’s national commemorative event to mark the historic events that took place 80 years ago to the day.

The Dedication Service for the opening of the Edinburgh Garden of Remembrance will take place at 11.00am on Monday 20th October 2025.
During the Service Wreaths will be laid by the Lord Provost, representatives from the Scottish Government, the Armed Forces, service charities and Veterans Associations and Organisations.

All are welcome to join us as we commemorate Remembrance Sunday this year at the Stone of Remembrance at Edinburgh City Chambers. Wreaths will be laid by the Lord Provost, representatives from the Scottish Government, UK Government and the wider Armed Forces and Veterans community to remember our fallen at 1100 hours on Sunday 9th November 2025.

Legion Scotland will deliver a short service of Remembrance to commemorate Armistice Day at the Scott Monument in Princes Street Gardens East
The Short Service will commence at 10.52am, The One O’clock Gun at Edinburgh Castle will fire a single round at 11.00am to mark the start of a National 2 Minute silence and again at 11.02am to signal the end of the silence, wreaths will then be laid by Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and representatives from service Charities.
All are welcome to join us prior to 10.50am ready for the service commencing.
Weather conditions will be monitored on the day, if the site is deemed unsafe for the service to continue (as was the decision in 2022) participants will be moved to New Haig House, Logie Green Road, EH7 4HQ to carry out the service.
